OpenAI announced the opening of an app store for users to share customized versions of its popular chatbot, ChatGPT. The store, called the GPT Store, allows users with a $20 monthly subscription to browse a wide array of custom chatbots offering various services.
Microsoft has invested $13 billion in OpenAI over the past four years. OpenAI has worked to enhance and expand ChatGPT, including integrating its DALL-E image generator into ChatGPT and releasing a new version with spoken word interaction. A new version of the chatbot, ChatGPT Teams, was also made available for businesses and groups at $25 to $30 per user per month.
OpenAI created a service allowing users to build custom chatbots called “GPTs” in November. This service has already seen three million customized chatbots created. The GPT Store aims to increase the user base and revenue for services like ChatGPT Plus. OpenAI plans to share revenue with those offering customized chatbots based on usage.
