Sam Altman Makes Comeback to OpenAI’s Board of Directors

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, is rejoining the board of directors after being briefly pushed out of the company. This move comes before a report by a law firm investigating Altman’s removal in November. The board members reinstating Altman have expressed confidence in him, indicating that the report may alleviate concerns about his leadership.

Altman returned as CEO shortly after his ouster and agreed to an investigation into his behavior. Two board members who voted for his removal have since stepped down, with their replacements overseeing the investigation by the law firm WilmerHale.

To address diversity concerns, OpenAI has added three women as directors: Sue Desmond-Hellmann, Nicole Seligman, and Fidji Simo. Desmond-Hellmann is the former CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seligman is the former general counsel of Sony, and Simo is the CEO of Instacart.
